Red White and Bleary

Sometimes I get home from my ridiculously easy job and think I must have some sort of chronic malady, because I’m in a weary fog and too tired to draw. And then, while I’m in the middle of sketching out my periodic interpretation of this feeling, I suddenly remember that I only slept three hours last night. And probably the night before that. Oh, and my diet runs the gamut from hot dogs to burritos to spoons full of peanut butter (somehow scooped to the size of an apple and eaten ravenously over the sink).

In other words, I’m exhausted by my swingin’ bachelor lifestyle. It’s probably exactly the same for George Clooney.

Back to Your Regularly Scheduled Ones and Zeroes

Just another pen test, but back on the tablet. I bought a set of digital brushes for Manga Studio 5. They were created by an artist named Ray Frenden who takes a lot of pride in creating brushes that mimic the feel of real-life tools when using a digitizer tablet. For instance, when using his “stiff nib,” you should feel like you’re applying the same amount of pressure as you would when creating a similar line with a real pen. It’s not an exact science, but they definitely work better than the default brushes. I would have spent hours on my own inferior attempts at brushes like these, so $5 is a steal.

Hey, it’s been a while since I’ve posted one of these totally clever drawings of myself yawning to indicate that I’m too exhausted to participate in my ridiculously low-impact pastime of drawing!

I sometimes think it’s all about needing to rest my eyes after a long day of looking at subpar monitors at work.

Thought I’d see if I still remember how to animate.

I sketched this a few days ago, but it accurately represents the way I feel when I have nothing interesting to post!

Put On Your Procrastination Cap

You know, I shouldn’t be so hard on myself for procrastinating. After all, I do have that pesky full-time job.

Nonetheless, I do need to come up with a look for my character before I proceed. This won’t be it, but it meets my blog quota!

Sketchy Rock Star

My friend was kind enough to invite me to a rock concert, resulting in my only sketch of the day, on the iPhone.

M86? Bingo!

Boy am I beat. The only thing I drew today was yet another sketch of people waiting for the bus. And I obviously had perspective on my mind as well (but no grid).

Opposite Day

Posted by Mark in Mark's Sketchbook

As in, the opposite of how I really feel right now! Nothing specific, but I’m happy to have 2 New York days to myself after a few of my nonstop adventures.
