Since I’m on my second round of watching the new season of Arrested Development, I thought I’d sketch an iconic image from season 1.

I know I need to learn more pop-culture references for my Improv classes, but I never knew I’d need them for figure drawing. I went to a drink-and-draw in Brooklyn, and my coworker decided that the 60-something male model resembled Ganondorf from the Legend of Zelda, and we should all draw him as such. Thanks, Google Images!

One great thing about having the parents in town is that I find a lot more opportunities to draw on restaurant tables. At dinner tonight, there was an older man in a powder blue suit downing bourbon and receiving occasional accolades from passersby, as if he were a celebrity. Maybe he was just well-known in the neighborhood.
This is two separate sketches colliding; he didn’t really have glassware on his head. But give him time.

Admittedly not my greatest sketch of Dad, but this plastic table covering wasn’t the greatest surface to apply ink to. Once I saw it was just pooling I decided to smear it around.
The steak and fries were awesome, by the way.

Actually, I finished it last night. 1 day to spare=new record (usually it’s hours or minutes).

Ha, and you thought I’d just been slacking. No, I’ve been working on a little video project.
Wait, is it slacking when you have a whole year to edit a video and you wait until the last four days? Crap.

Just in case I keep up with my trend of not posting every day, here’s a topical sketch that will work all Kentucky Derby/Cinco De Mayo weekend!
But seriously, I’m a little embarrassed about failing to pick up my drawing utensils lately. Rest assured I’ll be back in el saddle soon.
